Mike’s family law practice includes divorce and separation proceedings, asset division, alimony modification, support and child care arrangements, paternity proceedings, child custody and visitation matters, removal cases, and post-divorce modification. Additionally, Mike negotiates and drafts prenuptial agreements, and is developing a trusts and estates practice.
Mike’s criminal practice includes participation in complex state and federal court litigation. He has also successfully represented clients in Clerk’s Hearings, stopping criminal cases before they begin, and at the other extreme persuading courts to seal the records of our clients, enabling them to get a fresh start – in life, education and employment. Mike also participates in our personal injury litigation.
A native Spanish speaker, Mike coordinates representation of the firm’s Spanish-speaking clients.
Mike was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University, he enrolled at The University of Maryland Carey School of Law, where he obtained his Juris Doctor degree.
While in law school, Mike served as a Student Attorney at the University of Maryland’s Ex-Offender Reentry Clinic, assisting clients in expunging their criminal records. He served as a judicial intern at the Circuit Court for Baltimore County, Maryland, and as an intern at the New Orleans Public Defenders Office. Mike also worked for a large law firm in San Juan, Puerto Rico in its corporate, labor, and litigation departments. The following year, Mike began his career at Cunha & Holcomb, where he participated in all aspects of trial preparation, including a major RICO prosecution in federal court.
